The Joint Forum has released a consultative report on mortgage insurance in response to concern that the industry is subject to potentially significant stress during adverse financial events. The report details the interaction of mortgage insurers with mortgage originators and underwriters, and makes a series of recommendations aimed at reducing the likelihood of mortgage insurance stress and potential failure during serious tail events. The Joint Forum, established in 1996 by the BCBS, IOSCO and ISAS, examines all issues common to the banking, securities and insurance sectors.
