Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited Consultation Conclusions on After-Hours Futures Trading

In May 2011, the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEX”) issued a consultation paper on the prospect of introducing after-hours futures trading. At present, Hong Kong investors are unable to hedge or adjust their positions in HKEX’s futures market outsize regular trading hours in the event of major financial news or events during European or US time zones. In response to positive feedback, HKEX will proceed with the proposal with various refinements to the operational arrangements after considering responses received.
