EU Supports Agenda of Russia's G20 Presidency

The 31st Russia-EU Summit took place on June 4 in Yekaterinburg. During the summit, Vladimir Putin and EU leaders discussed current issues related to their cooperation, including as part of their preparations for the G20 Summit. Addressing the summit, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy said "while security in Europe is our first joint priority", "we also cooperate closely in addressing global challenges. We are pleased to give our full support to Russia's G20 chairmanship."

"We share the goals of reforming financial institutions, fighting against tax fraud and tax evasion, and setting the global economy back on track for growth and jobs," he emphasised. "We have discussed the steps to take in the run-up to the G20 Summit in St.Petersburg next September. And we are confident that the G20 Summit will be crowned by success," he added.
