IOSCO Task Force on Commodity Futures Markets Issues Report to the Financial Stability Board

The International Organization of Securities Commission’s Task Force on Commodity and Futures Markets has published a report to the Financial Stability Board, which set out its work, including (i) supervision of commodity derivative markets, including updating and reviewing existing guidance on contract design and market surveillance for commodity contracts set out in the Tokyo communiqué; (ii) physical market transparency, including engaging with representatives from the International Energy Forum, International Energy Agency, and the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries to assess the impact of oil price reporting agencies on overall market functioning and on financial markets; and (iii) ongoing monitoring of developments in over-the-counter financial oil markets.
