IMF Managing Director delivers speech on the interconnected global economy

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has delivered a speech on the interconnected global economy at the US Chamber of Commerce. Her speech focussed on three issues: the current state of the global economy, the role of the US economy in our interconnected world, and why the IMF matters for the global economy and for the United States. Ms Lagarde’s speech also outlined the rich history between the US and the IMF – describing the country as a leading shareholder and steadfast partner for nearly 70 years. She then went on to outline her vision of the US’s future role – focusing on trade, openness, jobs and growth in helping the IMF achieve its goal of global stability and shared prosperity.
