IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has delivered a speech at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the World Bank Group and IMF. Ms Lagarde’s speech covered the changing patterns of growth in the global economy and the changing dynamics of monetary policy. She also highlighted the transitions in the financial sector and the real economy. Ms Lagarde shared her insight on the road the IMF has taken to this point, and the road it is currently on, with specific focus on increasing financial integration between member nations. Ms Lagarde then went on to present the road ahead, including long-term trends that will shape the IMF’s future. Ms Lagarde particularly emphasised the need for the IMF to be flexible, and continue to change as the economy changes over the next generation.
