Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Publishes a Framework for Board Oversight of Enterprise Risk
The Risk Oversight and Governance Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants has developed a framework to help boards of directors fulfill their responsibility for the oversight of risk. The publication goes beyond discussing risk oversight issues and includes the following nine-part process to assist boards in better identifying and addressing critical risks: (i) establish context; (ii) identify risks; (iii) analyze consequences; (iv) analyze interconnections; (v) reanalyze consequences; (vi) prioritize; (vii) assess risk tolerance; (viii) choose a responsive strategy; and (ix) monitor.
