ASIC has published Report 368 Emerging market issuers (REP 368) about its review of emerging market issuers following several high profile collapses. Although the review does not identify any areas of systemic concern, ASIC does identify specific challenges that retail investors should be aware of before making the decision to invest in an emerging market issuer. These challenges include not having the same protections when investing, differences in corporate governance and difficulty accessing reliable information about an entity’s operation and performance.
